Biggera Waters is a genuine Broadwater suburb, built out through canal-estate subdivision from the 1960s through to the 1980s, with later unit and townhouse infill filling the gaps near Harbour Town and Oxley Drive. That means the housing stock runs from original brick-veneer and rendered low-set canal homes off streets like Morala Avenue and Coombabah Road, through to newer apartments closer to Brisbane Road. There is no single housing era here, so the electrical work has to suit everything from a 1960s board through to a modern unit fit-out.

The suburb's oldest canal homes still carry original switchboards from the 1960s and 70s, and those boards are the busiest job we see. Tropical summer storms and storm tides are the other local factor, pushing sudden load and the occasional surge through the network.
